‘Welcome to the City’ Event Draws Crowd and Closes Streets Downtown
Port Dominion’s Event Committee wasted no time and no effort when it came to hosting this weekend’s ‘Welcome to the City’ series of events, that will ultimately culminate with a group of citizen meet and greets with city officials.

“The “Welcome to the City” series events grew out of an idea to spur awareness of what all Port Dominion has to offer and for a way for existing and potential residents to get to know each other. The Events Committee has worked with other city officials to build a new welcome and information center at the site of the former Grand Ascalon hotel. The center will provide education and information to those wishing to learn about the history of Port Dominion, how to perform common tasks such as registering a vehicle, or of local residential and commercial properties around the city. Citizens and tourists alike can stop by 24hrs a day for information.

Saturday’s event featured live fire demonstrations from Metro Fire & Rescue, Metro Police, and dance music provided by local Batcave DJ, Beckka Fredricks.

The next event will take place Wednesday, September 21st, and will be an opportunity for citizens to meet one another and get to know city staff. Information will be posted to the Events page on the main city website.
